The Veracruz will grow Hyundai's lineup to nine vehicles bringing it ever closer to earning the title of full-line automaker. It will also be the biggest Hyundai model sold in North America slotting in above the Santa Fe and sporting three full rows of seating. Based on the aforementioned Santa Fe's platform the Vera Cruz will get a larger 3.8-liter V6 to lug it around include a standard six-speed auto and ESC and be available with all-wheel drive.

The styling seems to be coming around though it engenders the styling the cues that are fast becoming the mark of many CUVs: forward-leaning D-pillar soft edges and a less truck-like front end. The Veracruz will be going up against a stocked field of full-size CUV competitors that include vehicles currently on sale like the Honda Pilot and ones coming to market like GM's Lambda-based trio that includes the Saturn Outlook GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave as well as Ford's far-off full-size CUV based on the Fairlane concept.
