Camaro to hit the streets before Christmas!

Don't add it to your Christmas wish list just yet but according to Holden boss Denny Mooney the Australian arm of GM is working on hand-built prototypes of the new Camaro right now in conjunction with engineers and designers from Detroit that should be driving around on Australian roads before Christmas. Although the car will be built in Canada in left-hand drive configuration it sounds like Aussies may get a version of the car as well. Drive.com has learned that Holden is studying whether or not the car would be sold as the Chevrolet Camaro or wear a proper Holden badge if sold in Oz. So far the Camaro's name recognition wins out over local pride.

In other Holden news Mooney stated that they are close to finalizing a deal that would have them producing the next generation Pontiac Grand Prix on the Commodore SS-V platform as well. That announcement may be given at the Chicago Auto Show in February.
